***
The one essential element of taking a photograph:
To be present in the moment, in the place.
with the camera pointed at the subject, and pressing the shutter.
Those moments occur in daily life, during a walk.
The moments I want to capture exist when I’m on the go or not paying attention.
The GR has allowed me to capture numerous moments.
It’s compact. It’s light. It’s fast.
Of course, there are times when I enjoy the ritual of looking through the lens and adjusting the focus.
Sometimes, that ritual transforms the scene before my eyes into a photograph.
The GR captures the moments that precede that, as well as everyday life in its rawest form.
They lie between the artificial and the natural.
They lie between the conscious and the unconscious.
