How Do You Carry Your GR? (KYO)

2018.06.02 BLOG

Hello, this is KYO.

Although I'm still a bit nervous about being the writer again for the first time in two and a half years, I am pleased to see your responses to my last post in social media.

This time, let me write about carrying cameras instead of taking photos.

How do you carry your GR (camera) with you?
What kind of strap do you use?

For over 10 years, since the start of the GR DIGITAL, I’ve gone from two-way (vertical, horizontal) strap, wrist strap, neck-sized strap, to my handmade leather strap.

As for the case, I’m still trying to find a good one, but here’s my latest style.

【Strap】

A neck-sized strap I found in a corner of a mass merchandise store.
Although it is simple, the strings to hang the camera are thick enough to have a sense of security even when using the wide conversion lens.

I wrap the camera with it and put it in my bag.

When shooting, I can hold it tight by hooking it with my pinky finger and wrapping it around my hand.
At night, I strap it to my neck or nearby thing so that I can apply some tension in order to prevent blurring.

I don’t always hang my camera from the neck, but it’s convenient to do that when I want to keep my both hands free.

【Case】

Basically, I wrap the strap around and prevent the body from scratching a little bit, but when I go out or travel, I put it in a case like this. It is a bag-in-bag accessary case with Japanese pattern.

I wrap it like this.

Share images of yours on social media with the tag #GR_ACC.
I'd like to see your favorite straps and cases.

See you soon.

P.S.
Digital Camera Watch has posted this article (in Japanese) to report what it was like inside the "GR meet" the other day. Have a look!

I like this trick art in Ginza.

See you.
